Ryszard Dembinski

Rotmistrz Ryszard Dembinski (24 February 1924 – 29 June 2008) was a Polish Cavalry officer and D-Day Veteran, who, following World War II, helped to establish the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum in London, which he chaired for 25 years (1979–2004).〔see The history of the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum : http://pism.co.uk/history/index.html〕
==Early years==
Ryszard Dembinski was born in Poznań, the son of a Polish artillery officer, in 1924, which was just six years after Poland had regained its independence after 125 years of partition between Prussia, Russia and Austria. After the invasion of Poland on 1 September 1939, which set off World War II, Dembinski was deported to Kazakhstan with his mother and grandmother.
